"Action without vision is only passing time, vision without action is only daydreaming, but vision WITH action can change the world."
About Us
iChatters was founded at Apple Austin in 2008 by a group of employees dedicated to improving both leadership and communication skills.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected by the membership. Dr. Ralph C. Smedley, who conceived and developed the idea of helping others to speak more effectively, established the first Toastmasters club on October 22, 1924, in Santa Ana, California. More clubs were formed, and Toastmasters International was incorporated under California law on December 19, 1932.

Its World Headquarters, located in Rancho Santa Margarita, California, administers Toastmasters International’s business and services. It employs no paid promoters or instructors. It has no salaried staff except the Executive Director and World Headquarters staff, which provides services to the clubs and districts. There are currently 14,650 clubs in the world.

Mission
Toastmasters International’s mission is to develop leaders and make effective communication a worldwide reality.  This is based on the philosophy of the organization’s founder, Ralph, C. Smedley.

At iChatters, we share in that vision and align it with Apple's philosophies. Our club is built around these values.   Additionally, we have a mission to give back to Apple and its employees.

Goals
In iChatters, we focus on two key areas for our membership:
  • Developing outstanding communicators:
This is the core reason of our weekly meetings.  We want to ensure that people who join our organization understand how to expand their communication skill set. Its not only to understand how to speak better, but also why.  Communicators learn from speaking as much as they do from listening and observing.  All of these areas are practiced at our meetings.
  • Building solid leaders:
Leading a group, whether it is a Fortune 500 company, or a local chapter of a national organization, requires the same types of skill sets.  The ability to create a vision, the tactical implementation of making that vision a reality, the people skills to bring a group together around a common cause (and more) are reasons why iChatters is a place to develop your Leadership skills.
